Some call it the rise of the digital house call – telemedicine services are exploding. There has been a national movement to have states regulate telehealth services since it is more convenient for folks who have mobility issues or long trips to the doctor’s office. In Delaware there is a bill in the legislature that would require all private insurance to reimburse for telehealth services at the same rate as in-person appointments. Delaware’s Parkinson’s community is lobbying heavily for the bill. Currently in order to do telehealth video conferencing, doctors do it pro bono. We look at what can be covered by telemedicine, what efforts already are undergoing in the state and talk to some Parkinson’s patients. The Russos, in lewes, really want this bill to pass. Andy has Parkinson's and really would benefit from in-home consulations. They are open to a video interview on telemedicine and we can get photos of him working with an at-home yoga instructor beforehand.
